Acuity Forensics' staff pioneered a 'blind' analysis approach to vehicle identification in 2001. The blind analysis approach ensures that an accurate assessment of the evidential potential of the imagery is made without the possibility of 'confirmation bias' being present. We have provided evidential standard vehicle identification in a great number of high profile criminal investigations including the 2006 Ipswich Murders, 2009 Massereene Barracks shooting and 2013 Leicester arson. Initial blind analyses can be then be complimented by comparison of the blind conclusions with known suspect vehicles. We are also experienced in conducting targeted reconstructions to refine the opinion or to examine the potential match with specific vehicles. Such reconstructions can be carried out with a blind approach to ensure the integrity of the conclusions.
